    Porte Saint-Martin:


    From Porte Saint-Martin, northward, the grande rue Saint-Martin, was crossing the City Island in front of the cathedral by Pont Notre-Dame and Petit Pont, then the Grande rue Saint-Jacques went up the hill (Montagne Sainte-Geneviève), and gave access to the south by Porte Saint- Jacques.
